Carara Kicks plan to make South African soccer history by gaining promotion to the Premiership after spending only one season in the National First Division.

This was according to manager Allan Chetty yesterday after they were drawn to host the first leg of their playoff match against Jomo Cosmos on Thursday.

Kicks host the first leg on Thursday, while Ezenkosi host the second one on Sunday.

The PSL will announce the venues for these matches today.

The Welkom-based Kicks are used to making history, after winning Safa's Vodacom League after being in existence for less than a year. Kicks qualified for the playoffs after winning the Coastal Stream, while Ezenkosi finished on top in the Inland Stream.

Speaking after the draw at PSL offices in Parktown, Chetty said they were looking forward to becoming the third Premiership side from the Free State.

"It's gonna be tough but we are ready for the battle," he said.

Said Cosmos manager Andrew Rabutla: "It's a fair draw and we are happy. These are going to be two very difficult games and we have to be very focused. We have already started with the preparations for the playoffs and we will give it our best shot. Kicks are a very good side and their achievements are there for all to see, and deserve our respect." The overall winner automatically being promoted to the Absa Premiership. The losers will get another chance of gaining promotion when they meet Mpumalanga Black Aces during the Platinum play-offs on May 24.
