AmaTuks in the limelight

It seems only the forthcoming Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs can take away from all the talk about giant-killing Pretoria University's recent exploits in local soccer.

The team known as AmaTuks has been the flavour of the past few weeks after accounting for Premiership sides Kaizer Chiefs, Bloemfontein Celtic, and just this past weekend Ajax Cape Town in the semifinals to reach the final of the Nedbank Cup.

They will come up against Moroka Swallows in the final billed for May 23 at a venue still to be announced.

Their speed and skill as they go about their destructive mission will be part of the African Soccer Television show's highlights on SABC1 Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday at 2.30pm.

Things have changed in Zimbabwe politically and sport was not to be left behind. Dynamos were trying to win the Zimbabwe Independence Cup a record 19 times when they faced Njube Sundowns at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

The packed stadium saw Sundowns taste their first ever glory of the tournament when Evans Chikwaikwai's solo strike proved to be the winner.

Other highlights include the Togo Championship League's Round 10 which saw Dyto pip US Koroki 2-1 while Togo Telecom went down 0-1 to Etoile Filante.
