Graeme Watkins, the 26-year-old Idols competitor who was kicked out on Monday night, says the contest has given him an opportunity to know who he is.
But having reached the top three the pianist and guitarist said he would never take part in other Idols competitions.
"Having gone this far, reaching Top Three, it would be silly for me to subject myself to another emotional experience," he says. "I feel I have done so well. It has been such a great journey for me.
"The competition as a whole has given me an opportunity to know officially who I am. I have realised that to be successful as a musician one does not necessarily have to win the big prize."
Watkins said he did not feel betrayed by the public for not giving him enough votes to remain in the competition.
