It does not look likely that radio and TV personality DJ Sbu will have his day in court any day soon as he was involved in a car crash last month.
A confident Sbu, real name Sibusiso Leope, told Sowetan at the weekend: "I am not going to court any time. I do not think there will be a case. There was none from the beginning."
He allegedly crashed his car into a security guard's vehicle a month ago and then fled the scene. The ADT security vehicle was carrying three guards.
Sbu was driving his girlfriend Terry Pheto's car when he reportedly crashed into the other vehicle, causing his vehicle to flip as well as injuring one of the security guards.
He told our sister paper Sunday World that he fled because he panicked after his car overturned.
"I wanted to get some help," Sbu had said.
Sbu made a public appearance at the ANC's celebration in Nasrec, Johannesburg, to address the crowd.
Wearing a grey suit and his signature sunglasses, Sbu alighted from his car and greeted fans outside on his way to the stage.
Later he told Sowetan that he would not be appearing in court for the accident.
Provincial police spokesman director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo declined to comment on what Sbu had said about a possible court appearance.
"I have to liaise with the investigating officer first before I am able to comment on that matter, " Mariemuthoo said.
Sbu was suspended by Yfm recently for appearing next to president-in-waiting Jacob Zuma at the Siyanqoba rally in Ellis Park stadium.
He has since been reinstated.
