Just like Johannesburg Prison, popularly known as Sun City, Boksburg Correctional Services has also embraced the Confederations Cup that takes place in South Africa from June 14 to 28.

Inmates at the Boksburg Prison will participate in a soccer tournament featuring eight clubs to show their support for the "Festival of Champions".

The tournament at the prison on Tuesday will see the participating clubs adopting the names of the eight countries coming to South Africa for the real event - host country South Africa, Italy, the United States, Egypt, Iraq, Brazil, Spain and New Zealand.

Bafana Bafana start their campaign against Iraq, which is just like the opening match of the real Confederations Cup on June 14 at Ellis Park Stadium. New Zealand play Spain in the next game.

Patrick Thobejane, Boksburg Correctional Services communications officer, said the event was a joint partnership with the Local Organising Committee.

Some of the 2010 World Cup ambassadors like Philemon Masinga, Mark Fish and Doctor Khumalo will also grace the occasion.

Thobejane said the event was part of their commitment to rehabilitating the inmates through sport and affords them the opportunity to meet their soccer idols.

Three weeks ago, Sun City inmates featured in a similar tournament where Phil Mogodi's Safa Soweto were also partners.

It was won by Spain.

The partnership between the Department of Correctional Services, led by Ngconde Balfour, and the LOC was launched at Leeuwkop Prison last year.
