Vaseline is safer for swimmers

Swimmers who swim across the English Channel keep out the cold by smearing their bodies with lanolin, which is a fat that comes from sheep's wool. But Robben Island swimmers can't use lanolin because it would attract sharks. They use Vaseline instead.
