Khutsong takes to polls

Kingdom Mabuza

Kingdom Mabuza

Khutsong residents flooded their 17 voting stations to cast their votes.

The township descended into a no-go zone during the 2006 local government elections when residents protested against their relocation into North West.

The situation became stable when the ANC revoked their decision and returned the township to Gauteng last month after extensive consultations.

A prominent community leader and member of the SACP Jomo Mogale was among residents who cast their votes yesterday.

SACP chairman in Gauteng Nkosiphendule Kholisile said he voted in Khutsong to show support to the community.
