Punk band Ataris for SA

The Ataris, the platinum-selling punk band, will embark on their first South African tour soon.

The band is set to thrill local fans from May 6 to May 10 and then jet back to the US to headline The Warped Tour.

The group is famous for pop punk anthems such as So Long Astoria, The Don Henley Cover, The Boys of Summer and The Saddest Song . They will sing these with some of South Africa's finest groups.

Arriving in the country on May 5, The Ataris will be at the Fashion TV lounge at the Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, at 9pm for a relaxing evening of cocktails. Fans can meet the band in an intimate and undisturbed environment without having to fork out a cent.

On Thursday May 7 at 10am the group will conduct a workshop for aspiring musicians at The Campus of Performing Arts in Johannesburg. A few lucky people outside the college will also receive tickets to attend the workshop.

Die-hard fans can also catch The Ataris at the new Zeplins Rock Bar in Wonderboom on May 7. CrashCarBurn, Ef El and Symphalt will also host the group. Dance the night away at the Burn Night Club in Durban on May 8. On May 9, you can catch the band at the Klein Libertas Theatre in Stellenbosch.

The Ataris are also performing at the Foto Na Dans, Hog Hoggity Hog, CrashCarBurn, The Cat String, Theory, Holly & The Woods, Reburn and The Ragdolls.

On May 10 they will be at the Tempos Entertainment Park in Kaya Sands, north of Johannesburg.

The Ataris will perform a combination of their old hits as well as some brand-new tracks for the first time in South Africa.

Tickets costing R180 and R200 are available from Computicket or at the gates of each venue depending on availability. Times will be announced on these pages soon.
