Platinum Stars are going for the kill against Maritzburg United in what is expected to be an exciting Absa Premiership match at Olen Park on Sunday at 3pm.

What makes it even more interesting is that the two sides have the same number of points (31) from an equal number of games (25).

The Tycoons, however, go into this battle of the relegation-haunted teams with a better goal difference, lying 12th on the log.

The losers in this encounter may end up doing battle in the National First Division League Platinum playoffs, depending on the outcome of matches featuring the other clubs below them.

Stanley Kgatla, Stars' industrious captain, was quick to point out that they were not expecting favours from other clubs.

"We have to do the job ourselves of winning all the remaining games, starting with Maritzburg United who we respect a lot because they have quality players.

"We are aware that a win will put us in a good position to even challenge for the top eight bracket finish," added Kgatla.

Elias Ngwepe, United's winger, said they were equally optimistic of doing well.

"It's gonna be a tough one, Stars and ourselves have not been doing well. One must win to stay clear from relegation and it will be ourselves."
