There was jubilation yesterday when Education Minister Naledi Pandor officially handed over three state-of-the-art schools to Limpopo communities.
Pandor was accompanied by President Kgalema Motlanthe and Finance Minister Trevor Manuel to Sevengawane Combined School in Mabele, Bolobedu, in the Mopani district.
Pandor handed over the R40million school to pupils who previously learned in a dilapidated building.
The glittering event was attended by about 5000 pupils and parents.
Pandor then proceeded to Nirvana in Polokwane and Geen Site settlement where she also handed over two equally impressive schools to the communities.
The two schools comprise of 24 classrooms each, a library, a hall, a home economics centre, a computer laboratory, a toy library, a biology laboratory, an administration block and a nutrition centre.
The schools were each built at a cost of between R35million and R40million.
Pandor will also visit Sekhukhune district where she will hand over two other schools that were built at a cost of between R20million and R35million each.
These are Nthame Primary School and Fetakgomo High School.
The schools are among the 27 that the department is building this financial year in the province.
