Gauteng U-21s in semifinals

Gauteng have qualified for the semifinals of the inaugural SAB Under-21 National Championships after brushing aside North West 6-1 in Bloemfontein yesterday.

Guided by Nico Fischer, Gauteng finished on top of Group B on goal difference after they finished level with Northern Cape on nine points from four matches.

Northern Cape are also through a 2-0 win over Western Cape yesterday, booking their place in the semis.

Gauteng and Northern Cape both won three matches and lost one.

Limpopo and Free State have also qualified for the semifinal from Group A after finishing first and second.

Matlhomola Morake, South African Football Association media and communications officer, said the first semifinal starts at 1pm today and the second at 3pm.

Morake said the battle for a bronze medal will also take place at Clive Solomon Stadium tomorrow at noon, followed by the final at 3pm.

Serame "Rhee' Letsoaka, newly appointed Safa technical director of development, said: "It's been a great tournament with some exciting youngsters on display.

"There will be some boys that we will rope into for Amajita."
