Climate change will be the main subject of discussion at the South African Confederation of Agricultural Union's annual policy conference in Durban.

Sacau chief executive officer Ishmael Sunga said the three-day conference will be followed by the annual general meeting on Friday.

Sunga said they would also discuss food aid, food prices, regional agricultural policies and aid for trade in agriculture.

Sacau president Ajay Vashee is also president of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers. Sacau has 13 members from nine countries in southern Africa.

Also attending the conference will be the Lesotho National African Farmers Union, National Small Scale Farmers Union of Mozambique and the Swaziland National Farmers Union.
