After being postponed many times, the SABC2 comedy series Askies will finally be flighted on Friday.

The show is in the 11 official languages, but mainly Afrikaans, English and Sotho, with English subtitles.

Askies features some of the best comedy actors such as actress and writer Tumi Morake, who has appeared in shows such as Justice for All, Soul Buddiez, Izoso Connexion and City Ses'la.

Hanli Rolfes, who acted in Generations, also has a role .

The experienced television actress starred in Justice for All III, Jozi Streets and Vetkoekpaleis.

Dirk Stoltz, who has been working in television, theatre and cinema since the early 1990s and has done television shows such as Song vir Katryn, Riemvasmaak and Erfsondes, is another professional to look forward to.

Local comedy fans will be introduced to a home-brew comedy that they can relate to and that will make them laugh a lot.

Askies is a good comedy that follows the antics of a diverse group of quirky adults who have to learn an indigenous South African language in order to improve their social status.

In the surreal, frequently comic world of the Zulu Night Language School, the South Africans learn new languages and also overcome their prejudices and cultural hang ups.

Frida (Hanli Rolfes) plays a colourful Afrikaner character who wants to convert her pawnshop into a night club.

Audiences will laugh as she tries to learn an indigenous language.
