Limpopo got their SAB Under-21 National Championships off to a dream start with a 2-0 win over KwaZulu-Natal at Clive Solomon Stadium in Bloemfontein yesterday.

Jackie Motshekgoa was the star of the day for the team guided by former Free State Stars and Kaizer Chiefs striker Mike Rapatsa, after scoring both goals.

Speaking to Sowetan after the game, Rapatsa said they were inspired by the success of Limpopo's Under-19 side that won the Metropolitan Cup in Durban last weekend.

"The feeling is always great to win your first game, especially in a competition where all the best players from our nine provinces are competing," he said.

"I was happy with our performance, though I still maintain we should have scored more goals. The win has eased the pressure going into the second game.

"We cannot afford to disappoint the people of Limpopo after our provincial under-19 side won the national title in Durban. We are also not here on holiday but to fetch what is rightfully ours," added Rapatsa.

Limpopo have a date with Eastern Cape at 11am today and hosts Free State at 1pm.
