The studios of Barberton Community Radio were turned into a boxing ring at the Easter weekend when a female newsreader was allegedly struck by the wife of station manager Edmond Chirwa for allegedly having an intimate relationship with her husband.

Sources said the catfight started after the wife, Lungile, was tipped off about the relationship that has apparently been going on behind her back for three years.

She then apparently instructed her husband to take her to the newsreader's home.

According to neighbours, the brother of the newsreader struck the manager after the couple stormed into their home. The brother was arrested yesterday after a case of assault was laid.

In the evening, when the newsreader was about to present the news, the wife reportedly stormed in and a fight broke out again.

Barberton police station Constable Jabu Ndubane confirmed that Chirwa and his wife had opened cases of assault against the newsreader and her brother.
