WHY SHOULD IT BE OUR THOKO?

Charles Mogale

Charles Mogale

I was with family, mourning the passing of my eldest niece, Thoko, and asked: "Why would God do this to my family? Why Thoko? Why us?"

Thieves, rapists, child molesters, serial killers, drunks and fraudsters, have been known to live forever. Why Thoko? She was only 29.

Thokozile Enid Sandra Mnguni was born on April 7 1980, the first child of my sister Busi and her husband David.

She grew up in my home town, Mabopane, and qualified as a doctor in record time.

On February 15, she was dashing to work in Lichtenburg when she was involved in a crash that saw all eight people in the other car die.

We were informed that the driver of the other car - who was killed too - was sozzled pink.

I loved that girl.

On Saturday we are burying her and once more I will be questioning God: "Why, why, why?

A family member responded by saying: "He (God) wants only the best for Himself."

I am trying hard to understand and accept. But I lie if I say I do.

Rest in peace Mdokisi, my pretty baby.

The funeral service will be held at Dr Moreosele High School in Block U Mabopane starting at 7am. The cortege will leave for Nina Park Cemetery at 9am.
