Masedi goes back to ANC

Alex Matlala

The former general secretary of the South African Local Government Association and ANC member Molebatsi Masedi has returned to the ANC after defecting to the Congress of the People last year.

Masedi baffled many people yesterday when he announced that he was returning to the ANC, hardly eight months after he joined the breakaway party.

Masedi, who served in different capacities in the Azanian People's Organisation and the ANC, served in the regional and provincial structures of Cope.

He resigned from the ANC after the provincial conference at the University of Venda last year when he was not included among possible party leaders both in the province and in Mopani region for the party's regional conference.

The versatile orator rejoined the ANC a few days after charges against ANC president Jacob Zuma were dropped on Monday by the National Prosecuting Authority.
