A 19-year-old girl was taken to a safe house after her stepfather, who was arrested earlier for allegedly impregnating her twice in two years, was released from jail.
The man, 53, who cannot be identified to protect the girl, allegedly raped her for almost 10 years.
The Nelspruit regional court yesterday freed him pending forensic tests.
The girl dropped out of Grade 11 last year after allegedly giving birth to her stepfather's second child.
KaNyamazane police spokesperson, Superintendent David Pieterse said yesterday: "The court will have a clear picture about what to do as soon as DNA tests have been reviewed. As for now, he is a free man."
The man was arrested in January after the girl told her teachers about the rape.
The girl said she had told her mother too, but she did not believe her daughter.
