Serame Letsoaka, Amajita coach, is brimming with confidence that his Class of 2009 will make history by being the first under-20 national side to get past the first round at the World Youth Championships.
"Our aim is to not only go beyond the first round but to be proud ambassadors of South Africa and the continent at the tournament," said Letsoaka.
Amajita were pitted against United Arab Emirates, Honduras and Hungary in this tournament scheduled for Egypt from September 24 to October 16.
"On paper, it [the draw] looks good, but I can tell you it will be difficult. If we had to play England or Spain, our players would definitely have been more motivated as was the case [at the African Youth Championships] in Rwanda where we were pitted against powerhouses like Nigeria and Cameroon.
"I strongly believe we will go through to the second round as number one or two, but I think Hungary will be our main threat."
The first and last time South Africa participated in the World Youth Championships was in 1997.
