The entertainment spotlight in Northern Cape will this Easter fall on Kimberley when the Kimfest takes place from April 7 to 12.

The festival, which will feature music, art, comedy and poetry, will take place at different venues.

The Sol Plaatje Memorial Lecture takes place tomorrow at Whag in Kimberley. The speakers are Gomolemo Mokae and Sabata Mokae.

On Wednesday, there will be poetry, comedy and reggae at Mayibuye Centre. Ntsiki Mazwai and Maxhoba will pay tribute to writer and poet Don Mattera.

On April 9, there will be prayer services for the elections at various churches.

Party lovers will be entertained by DJ Police, Levis 501, Mavusana, Ronsard, KG Smallz and Crazy T Bikers Car Wash at Galeshewe Arena Car Wash on Friday.

The Diamond and Dorings Youth Festival takes place on Saturday at Rivito Lapa in Kimberley. Lelethu Nkula, Jozi, Teargas, Sphe, DMOS, Ronsard, KG Smallz and many others will be there.

The main festival will take place on April 12 at the Langleg Pleasure Resort. The line-up includes Culture Spears, Lira, Judith Sephuma, Dr Victor and The Rasta Rebels, Lesego, Freshlyground, Ringo Madlingozi and HHP.

City mayor Patrick Everyday said: "Kimberley must take its place as South Africa's entertainment destination."

Tickets cost R100 at Computicket and you will pay R120 at the gate.
