Lehlohonolo Ramagole will hope to get lucky, as his first name suggests, against Moruti Mthalane when they fight on April 18.

Ramagole, a novice who has done pretty well since making his professional debut on January 27 2006, will challenge Mthalane for the South African flyweight belt at the University of North West hall in Mafikeng.

This fight will be presented by Branco Sports Production to about 4000 fans.

It will be the main supporting bout to the IBF junior lightweight clash between Mthalane's stable mates Cassius Baloyi and Malcolm Klassen.

Mthalane had been undefeated since 2004 when he was stopped in the eleventh round by then South African flyweight champion Nkqubela Gwazela.

After that defeat, Mthalane chalked up nine straight wins, including a first-round knockout of Apol Suico for the vacant WBC International title and a lopsided points victory over Hussein Hussein for the right to challenge Nonito Donaire for the IBF and IBO flyweight crowns.

But Mthalane suffered a laceration on his eyelid and the fight was stopped in the sixth round.

Ramagole, 25, is trained by his father Lucky Ramagole in Orlando. The 2006 Baby Champs titlist has lost once, against Joel Kunene.

The fight between Mthalane and Ramagole is a first step by promoters Branco Milenkovic and Jacob Matlala, as well as trainer Nick Durandt to pave the way for Mthalane to get a second shot at the world title.

Victory will make life easier for Milenkovic to negotiate with the IBF regarding the title elimination fight.

Another Durandt fighter, Lesley Sekotswe, will defend his African Boxing Union super flyweight strap against Nkosana Sobethu while female boxing starlet Sandra Almedia will fight Essiane Clotilde in the middleweight division.
