Lebogang Makgato, the former lover of Julius Gxowa, one of three men jailed for killing Lucky Dube, says she wants to apologise to the slain icon's family.
Makgato asked the Shembe Church members at court yesterday to help her put her life back together.
Speaking to church representative Enoch Mthembu outside court she said: "Yes I want to meet the family and I want to apologise to them."
She pleaded with Mthembu to arrange the meeting.
The church representatives attended court proceedings for two days to lend their support to the Dube family.
Makgato said she felt she has been dealt a rotten hand and been portrayed badly by the media.
"The family are not the only victims here. I am also a victim and I don't want to be associated with this sort of thing any more," said Makgato.
In an article published in Sowetan on Wednesday, Makgato talked about her relationship with Gxowa.
She said although she knew what Gxowa did for a living, she had been in denial about his criminal activities and thus turned a blind eye to it all.
"The scar on his face is what first attracted me to him. The writing was always on the wall, but love made me blind," she said then.
