The Johannesburg Easter Festival kicks off on Friday and promises wholesome family fun during the school holidays.

Formerly known as the Rand Show, the festival runs until April 13 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, in Johannesburg.

Daily circus show, children's theatre, lifestyle exhibitions, music concerts, Kiddies World, and a flamboyant Bollywood play are some of the spectacles on offer.

"The festival combines great holiday festivities with traditional family favourites," said Johannesburg Expo Centre CE Craig Newman.

Top local acts such as Loyiso, Gang of Instrumentals, Jabu Hlongwane, Karen Zoid, Cassette and Arno Carstens will perform at five concerts during the festival.

The gates open at 9am until 8pm daily and tickets cost R70 for adults. Tickets for children under 13 cost R25 and entrance for children under the age of six is free. Pensioners pay R40 from Monday to Wednesday.
