The award-winning game show, Crazy Games, is back on television by popular demand.

After winning the South African Film and Television Award (Safta) recently, Crazy Games starts again today at 7.30pm on SABC2 .

The fast-paced new series of the family game show features contestants from various universities engaged in friendly yet fiercely compe-titive showdowns for the Crazy Games championship title.

The 14 participating universities include North West University, Central University of Technology, Vaal University of Technology, Walter Sisulu University, University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch, Wits University, Nelson Mandela Metro University, University of KZN and the University of Johannesburg among others.

The show features ordinary contestants in oversized costumes taking each other on in a large-scale obstacle course. Contestants are dressed up as hamsters, chickens, pigs, mice and an assortment of other characters.

The games vary from episode to episode, and each game is not played twice across the series - the only game repeated is the deciding game, The Rachet. The games are designed to test contestants' quick thinking, team work and mental alertness.

The show is presented by Kurt Schoonraad, Rob van Vuuren, Evh'a Nteso, Josias Molele and Michael Munonde.

Crazy Games is an established game show which has been used across Europe, where teams comprising of 16 contestants - 10 men and six women - compete against each other in a variety of elaborate games wearing colourful and extravagant costumes.

Filming for the new SABC2 series took place at night at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg.
