KHARTOUM - US President Barack Obama's special envoy to Sudan, Scott Gration, will arrive this week on his first visit to the country, a diplomat said yesterday.

Gration will visit Khartoum, Darfur and south Sudan and leave on April 11.

Gration was nominated as the US put pressure on Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir following his expulsion of international aid groups from Darfur.

The expulsion came days after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Bashir. - Sapa-AFP
