The death of Catherine Mkhontwane has left a void that will be difficult to fill for family, friends, neighbours and fellow church members.

Mkhontwane, 69, who was affectionately known as "Mama Nooi", died last Tuesday after a long illness. She was loved for her humility and her willingness to share.

Mama Nooi was a staunch member of the Methodist Church in Mohlakeng, Randfontein.

She was born in Bekkersdal, Westonaria, in 1941.

She and her late husband Daniel, they were blessed with five children - three daughters and two sons.

In the last few years, she lost a son and a daughter. She is survived by two daughters and one son.

Mkhontwane will be buried tomorrow. The service will be at the Methodist Church in Mohlakeng at 7am, and the cortege leaves for the Greenhills Cemetery at 9am.
