Another Mpumalanga teacher is under investigation after he allegedly sexually harassed an 18-year-old pupil.
And the girl, whose case has been dragging on since July last year, has dropped out of school because her alleged attacker is still at work.
The provincial education department said the matter was still under investigation "and the teacher is likely to know his fate by the end of this week".
Department spokesperson Gerald Sambo yesterday maintained that the teacher was not a threat to the girl.
This week, Nkululeko circuit manager Adelaide Mabilo referred Sowetan to the communications section.
Her reaction comes just after the circuit hosted a hearing over the incident last Monday, where the teacher was represented by the SA Democratic Union.
The girl's boyfriend said he was interrogated by the union in the presence of the victim's brother, who came as a witness.
The boyfriend said the investigator from the department had said that he viewed the case in a serious light and was hoping to conclude the case sometime this week.
The investigator refused to comment but said the investigation was continuing.
Last week Sowetan reported about another teacher who was arrested for allegedly raping a Grade 12 pupil.
