The bank account of Brenda Sambo of Tiyani village in Limpopo, will swell by R2800 after Mavislot Trading CC agreed to refund the money for an electricity vending machine.
Consumer Line made this possible.
After paying the full amount, Sambo was told to wait for two weeks because they had to communicate her sale to Kazang, their electricity service provider.
She completed the application form and gave details of the location where the electricity would be sold.
Two weeks later she was told her application had not been processed. She was told to wait a further 14 days .
"After another 14 days, I called their head office again and was referred to the manager, Dankie Maluleke, who promised to investigate and report back, but this has not happened," said Sambo.
She said Maluleke had told her to buy their company starter packs and use her cellphone to sell airtime.
"I never heard of such a thing and cancelled the sale, which was agreed to, but now he wants to refund me a paltry 15 percent," Sambo said.
It was only at that point that they referred her to the terms and conditions of the contract she signed.
"Their Polokwane branch kept this information to themselves when I signed up," Sambo said. She said they were unable to produce a signed copy when she demanded one.
Maluleke at first felt he was within his rights to keep Sambo's money because he was under the impression he had delivered the machine last June . Only l ater did he realise it was a new sale - and has agreed to refund Sambo.
