Neil Tovey, Danone Nations Cup's ambassador, was impressed by the high standard of football at the Limpopo championship on Saturday at Polokwane Cricket Club.

Dorothy Langa won the title following their 2-0 victory over Tapola in a tough final.

The matches were played under the auspices of the South African Schools Football Association.

Tovey commended the boys for playing bare-footed and said that will build their confidence, but said they need to use boots in future.

"Their play throughout the tournament showed that they have a good understanding of the game and are eager to learn further. This is also a clear indication that the national championships will be highly contested." Tovey said.

Langa had an easy road to the final after they swept all their four round-robin matches.

They beat Nkona 2-1, Mamphoko and Spark Park 4-0 each, and Matiyani 3-0 before they beating Madika 3-1 in the semifinals.

Nkona lost two matches against Langa, one during the round robin and the other one in the final.

They beat Spark Park 1-0, Matiyani 1-0 and Mamphokgo 2-0.

Provincial coordinator Theo Mohlaka said they are convinced Dorothy Langa will not only represent the province but will clinch the national title.

The national championship will be held in Soweto from May 29 to 30.

The first prize for the national champions is a trip to Brazil in October.
