Motivation and encouragement were the order of the day when women - and a few men - from all over the country met in Durban at the Sowetan Women's Club.

The event was held at Durban's Suncoast Casino, courtesy of Kahlua and Revlon. Motivational speaker and Ukhozi FM's religious presenter Sbu Buthelezi spoke about women of faith who in spite of tribulations realise that "somewhere, after all that she is going through, she will reach her destiny".

"But it all begins with women knowing who they are, that they are beautiful and that is the only thing that separates them from men."

Guest speaker was the very successful businesswoman and writer Zanele Mbokazi.

She urged successful women not to shut out others .

She said what constitutes the growth of women in business is not to be selfish, but to ask what they can do to empower sisters.

Mbokazi is founder of the Gospel Crown awards .

She made a name for herself through her public relations company Mirror, which has organised a number of events and concerts in the country.

She said she worked very hard to be where she is today.

"I am not where I am because of some well-known, successful man, but because I worked hard," she said.

Mbokazi urged the audience to "be good and help other women".
