Ikapa Sporting will host fellow National First Division side Winners Park in a Nedbank Cup round of 16 match at Erica Park in Cape Town on Saturday.
Both sides were knocked out at the same stage of the tournament last year and are looking to go one step further this year.
Sporting were bundled out by Free State Stars 8-1 while Winners were edged by Sporting's neighbours FC Cape Town 1-0.
Both sides believe they have what it takes to go far this year, which makes the game more exciting and harder to predict.
And their belief stretches to their respective First Division coastal and inland stream campaigns as well, where they are well placed to push for the promotional playoffs to the Premiership in the latter part of the season.
Signs are that this will be a mouthwatering encounter between two evenly matched teams.
Sporting coach Sergio dos Santos will be pinning his hopes on former veteran professionals including Bradley August, Robert Nauseb and Rowen Hendricks to win the game for him.
Youngsters such as American goalkeeper Morgan Cathey and striker Danian Warley, who created the first goal for August and sealed the win when they beat Durban Stars 2-0 in the round of 32, will be looking to continue with their fine form. Carlo Scott is out injured.
"We will not take Winners Park for granted. We are going out to attack them from the onset while giving them the respect they deserve," said Dos Santos.
Winners coach Innocent "Ayoba-yo" Mayoyo has enough in his arsenal to upset Sporting in their own backyard.
The likes of Bernard Molekoa, Michael Mulaudzi, Premerus Phadu, Ndumiso Mabena are capable of guiding Winners to the next round.
"This game is not about results for us, but to keep the winning momentum going in both the cup and league games. However, we're not going there to be like sheep to the slaughter, but to fight against our opponents. The players are focused for this match and we are hopeful we will prevail," he said.
The match will be televised live at 3pm on SABC1 Sport.
