Moyo leaves feeling his work is done

Respected sports administrator Dan Moyo is leaving the government's 2010 World Cup unit a happy man.

Respected sports administrator Dan Moyo is leaving the government's 2010 World Cup unit a happy man.

"We have put all the systems in place for the World Cup, the stadiums are ready to be handed over to Fifa and the Local Organising Committee in the next few weeks," said Moyo, who has resigned as head of the unit to pursue a new career in business.

"I felt that there was not much to do anymore since most of the guarantees that we made to Fifa have been met. I'm happy that we are ready to deliver a successful Confederations Cup in June and the 2010 World Cup.

"The whole of South Africa and the African continent will be proud of us, we will show the world that Africa is equally capable of hosting major international events.

"I also want to take this opportunity to thank the government for their continued support and guidance in all the preparations,' Moyo added.

"It is only proper to once more urge South Africans to go out there and apply for tickets for the Confederations Cup in big numbers."
