Daniel Baron, who was booted out of the Idols competition on Monday night, says his elimination marks a new beginning for his career.

"Now that I am done with Idols, I will probably be touring the country performing as I was doing before.

"However, what is very important to me now is to cut my own CD," said the singer from Fairlands, Johannesburg, yesterday.

He said that after his best performance on Sunday he was shocked to learn that he was going home.

But was not bitter, he said.

Baron, a Grade 12 pupil and head boy at De La Salle Holy Cross College in Victory Park, Johannesburg, said before joining Idols he performed at weddings and parties.
