The ANC is to lodge a complaint with the Independent Electoral Campaign today against the Congress of the People.
It accuses Cope members of tearing down its posters.
Yesterday, ANC Gauteng spokesman Nkeke Kekana said Cope members, including a Midrand local leader, were "caught red-handed" tearing down ANC posters on Friday evening.
"We have the registration number of a Hyundai bakkie which was used in the operation," he said.
"Our concern is that the very same bakkie was used during the day when Cope presidential candidate Mvume Dandala was launching his party's election posters in Midrand."
He said the ruling party wanted the IEC to investigate whether Dandala had sanctioned the tearing down of the posters.
Meanwhile, the ANC has condemned a scuffle that broke out between its members and Cope supporters in Kuruman, Northern Cape, on Saturday during a live radio debate when they threw chairs at each other.
"The incident is shameful and a disgrace," said spokesperson Jessie Duarte. - Sapa
