A Limpopo municipal manager might face the sack after allegedly going against his bosses' directive and availed a venue for a Cope rally.

Lepelle-Nkumpi municipality manager, Spitle Mphahlele, allegedly ignored orders by his bosses and availed Lebowakgomo Stadium to Cope to hold a rally last Saturday.

Soon after the rally, the ANC in the municipality held a party caucus where Mphahlele's fate was allegedly discussed.

A list of grievances against Mphahlele was also drafted and submitted to the ANC.

The memorandum was allegedly drafted by the SA Municipal Workers Union and the ANC.

Some of the claims against Mphahlele were that he ostensibly changed recommendations made by the adjudication panel for tenders to be awarded to specific companies.

An urgent party caucus was called on Wednesday where it was allegedly agreed that Mphahlele's conduct be brought before a special council sitting today.

ANC chief whip Callick Mohlatlole confirmed yesterday that there were problems raised against Mphahlele, but refused to confirm whether a decision to suspend him was taken.

Early last month, Tzaneen municipal manager Mabakane Mangena was dismissed after he allegedly ordered a town manager in Lenyenye not to allow Cope use of a venue for a rally.
