Scandal actress and stage veteran Nthati Moshesh is back in big time theatre after landing a lead role in a new Pieter Dirk-Uys production curiously named MacBeki.

Written and directed by Dirk- Uys, the political satire will open at the Market Theatre on March 29. Moshesh landed the role after suffering two setbacks last month. She lost her mother who died suddenly.

She also lost out to Sonia Sedibe of Generations at the South African Film and Television Awards last month. They were both nominated for the Best Actress Award.

In MacBeki Moshesh plays the role of the ambitious alcoholic Lady Manta.

Written in mid-2008, the comedy is set in Luthuli Castle where the ageing King Maduba (Arthur Molepo) is nearing the end of his reign.

Other actors in the production include Mpho Osei-Tutu, Fezile Mpela, Sello Sebotsane, Coco Merckel and Lizz Meiring.
