The KwaZulu-Natal department of health says the boy who waited two years to have his testicles operated on was "not considered urgent".

Spokes-person Leon Mbangwa, pictured , yesterday said that in patients with undescended testicles, any surgery up to the age of two years will affect the sperm production capacity.

However, after the age of two the sperm production cells are damaged and production becomes nil.

The seven-year-old boy of Port Shepstone, was to undergo an orchidectomy on Friday, but the operation was cancelled because the air-conditioners were not working.
