Afro jazz artist Jeff Maluleke is giving back to his community by opening a music school in his home town.
Maluleke is expected to open his branded music school on Friday in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga.
The artist, who was inspired by top musicians such as Victor Ntoni and Hugh Masekela, says he wants to focus on developing music in the province. This means that his fans will have to wait a little longer for an album from him while his latest project takes off.
His last release - Twist of Jeff - was in 2007.
He says the school will enable aspirant artists to understand music.
Maluleke said he had been toying with the idea of a music academy for a decade.
The school will hold part-time classes on Saturdays and Sundays and full-time courses will run from Mondays to Fridays.
