Tommy "TK" Kgomo, coach of the national softball team, Simunye, has reunited with Mahwelereng Spikes as their head coach on a three- month contract.

Spikes' mouthpiece Mogaba Tsebe confirmed the signing of Kgomo and added that they believe that his international experience will enhance the club's title ambition.

"We have resolved to rope in Kgomo after our former head coach Ntate Pila indicated that he had a tight schedule and as a result he did not have enough time for the boys," Mogaba told Sowetan yesterday.

"We needed someone with experience, who has won a Limpopo Softball Association [title], and fortunately Tommy has won it thrice, once with us and two times with Seleteng Giant Killers.

"We are confident that Tommy will assist us to reclaim the league title from defending champions Killers."

Kgomo said he still has unfinished business at Spikes, because when he was appointed as head coach of Simunye two years ago he was about to complete a development programme.

"My mission is to stabilise the introduction of young players into the team, and not forgetting that the main aim is to win the league title. I will also assist them to get a suitable coach for next season," Kgomo said.

He said coaching the club and national team did not represent a conflict of interest because selection for the national team is "done from the provincial teams, not from the clubs".

Kgomo is expected to lead Spikes when the second round resumes later this month.
