SABC treats UCDP with utter contempt

The SABC treats the United Christian Democratic Party, one of the oldest parties in the country, as if it does not exist.

The SABC treats the United Christian Democratic Party, one of the oldest parties in the country, as if it does not exist.

The SABC is running the Sunday night debates purportedly to allow political parties to reach out to voters, but it comes across as if the exercise is meant to project only some parties while others, like the UCDP, are sidelined.

Since January when the programme started, some parties have been invited so frequently that it seems they own the SABC, but we have never been given any opportunity to participate. Even parties with one seat in Parliament have been preferred above us.

Party manifesto launches were covered live and selected parties were given a chance to further present their cases in the studio . The SABC has even invited some parties on Morning Live.

We have never been given such opportunities notwithstanding that we sent our itinerary of rallies, launch and even manifesto to the SABC.

We are left with only one conclusion, that the SABC is following an agenda best known to them.

As a party with discipline and restraint, we feel that what happened in Port Elizabeth last Sunday served the SABC well, to expose their partisanship. The UCDP will, however, not go to such lengths although the proverbial worm is bound to turn sooner than later.

Sipho Mfundisi, National spokesperson: UCDP
