Inspiration for other women

The welcoming smile and gentle character of vivacious Soweto businesswoman Lindiwe Chriselda Ndaba will not be seen any more and the loss is not only to her family but to the country which she served so diligently.

Born on June 4 1960 in Soweto, Ndaba passed away on Monday, March 2 in Pretoria.

She attended Emaweni Primary School and matriculated from Sekano Ntoana Secondary School. After matriculating, she went to Chamdor Technical Centre where she studied computer administration and graduated cum laude.

Like many other scholars, she did not stand idle when in 1976 the apartheid regime tried to force Afrikaans down the throats of Africans.

She joined the struggle to liberate the people from the bondage of subserviency, and from there on never looked back as she made women empowerment her mission in life.

It was, therefore, not surprising when Ndaba established her own company, Bright Homes, specialising in the construction of houses. This established her as a leading light among women as she had proved that women could venture into anything without being prejudiced.

She joined the ANC Women's League after its unbanning in 1990 and her articulate manner of doing things did not go unnoticed

She was recruited to the ANC headquarters in 1991 where she worked as PA to Mathews Phosa and Penuell Maduna in the legal department at Shell House.

A staunch member of the Church of Christ, Ndaba leaves behind a loving mother, two sons, five sisters and a brother.

Her funeral service will be held at Tshiawelo Church of Christ [No 220, Takalani Street, Tshiawelo] tomorrow at 08.30am.

The cortege will leave for Westpark Cemetery at 11am.
