Siyabonga "Slikour" Metana is wellknown as a member of the hip-hop group Skwatta Camp. He later slipped away from the group to release a solo project. Currently, he is working on his third solo album, Ventilation 3. He also co-founded Buttabing Entertainment, an artist management company and Ventilation Productions, a lifestyle agency.

Metana has little time to cook so to help the busy bachelor, we asked him to test different brands of microwave meals.

McCain's Bobotie was tasted first. He was not impressed by the packaging. After a few bites of the meal, he shrugged his shoulders: "It tastes better than it looks on the packet. It's a good meal for a guy who can't cook."

Nice and Easy's Spaghetti Bolognese was up next.

"The box has too many instructions, but the meal has a very nice pepper flavour with just the right amount of tomatoes," Metana said.

He didn't like Today's Beef Lasagne.

"It has an after-taste, a vegetable flavour which is not a good thing if you want a meaty meal. The packaging is very misleading.

There's a child kissing its mother and probably thanking her for the hearty meal, but I assure there is nothing hearty about this meal."

I & J Meal Box's Red Curry Chicken with Jasmine Rice was packed in a cube-like box, which was better than the other boxes.

"The shape of the box is very interesting and I like the way it opens up. The taste was not as interesting. I'm not a curry person so I'm not too keen on it."

He was impressed with Woolworths Tagliatelle Alfredo.

"I love the packaging. It's sexy, simple and modern. The meal is simple and to the point. It could do with a little more meat, but still it tastes very good.

"I think I'm going to pay ilobolo at Woolworths because their meal tasted the best of the lot," Metana said.- Lerato Matsaneng
