A1 Terrors are the champions of Waterberg District Executive Mayor's Challenge following their hard-earned 1-0 victory over Mokopane Academy at Mahwelereng Stadium on Sunday.
Terrors were smiling all the way home after pocketing the R10 000 first prize, floating trophy and gold medals. The Modimolle-based socer club showed composure and discipline in the semifinal when they walloped Black Stars 4-2 in a one-sided match.
Mokopane, who are top of the SAB League in the region, were made to sweat by the uncompromising Dangerous Darkies before winning 3-2 in the other semi.
Soccer fans were glued to the grand stand during a thrilling final between Terrors and Mokopane that failed to produce a goal in the 90 minutes.
The killer goal was scored by Oupa "Papas" Manamela in the last five minutes of extra time.
Mokopane received R5 000 as runners-up. In the losers' final Stars thrashed Darkies 7-4 to take home R4 000.
Terrors' coach Phuti Mabotja attributed the victory to teamwork and hard work.
"I am confident that these boys will contest for promotion next season.
"I would like to call on the parents to support their children to ensure that the team grows stronger," Mabotja said yesterday.
