Still bungling

Will the Department of Home Affairs ever get its act together?

Will the Department of Home Affairs ever get its act together?

Besides a series of bungling over the issuing of wrong identity documents and corrupt officials still in their midst, the department now pronounces people who are alive and well dead.

And those who dare report that they are alive are asked to present themselves at the nearest police station and obtain affidavits.

Petros Mtungwa is the latest victim who was declared dead four years ago.

Home Affairs spokesperson Joseph Mohajane says all those who had been wrongfully declared dead must bring along affidavits. This is obviously to prove they are alive.

Such bizarre mistakes are proof that incompetence still dogs the department.

Let the heads start rolling.
