Here is the 2008 champion of the National Schools Essay Competition on Albinism - 18-year-old Sisanda Ngcana.
She is a Grade 11 student at Khanyisa School for the Visually Impaired in KwaDwesi, outside Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape.
The competition is a nation-building partnership project of Sowetan, the Albinism Society of South Africa and the national departments of education and of health.
It challenges students in Grades 11 to 12 to research albinism and to analyse social stigmas related to this inherited condition. The stigmas - ridicule, misunderstanding and prejudice - affect people with albinism.
