Ajax mind games: will Arrows fall?

Before their match against Bay United, Ajax Cape Town's ace winger Franklin Cale said they were out of the title race.

United may have been lulled into a false sense of security after hearing his comments, and paid a heavy price for that. The Urban Warriors ran amok, thrashing them 4-1 in a lopsided affair in midweek.

Now the question is: will Lamontville Golden Arrows fall into the same trap?

The answer will come out when the two meet in a floodlit Absa Premiership match at Athlone Stadium tomorrow.

Abafana Bes'thende travel to the Mother City on the back of a resounding 5-2 victory over battling Maritzburg United and will need to win convincingly tomorrow.

Disturbing news for Ajax, though, is that Arrows' goal poacher Richard Henyekane has regained his goal-scoring touch.

Ajax supporters still remember him after he scored three goals in their 4-0 massacre of the Cape club in the first round.

But Ajax are well-placed to avenge that defeat. Ajax forward, and current Premiership top scorer Mabhuti Khenyeza can help ensure his former employers bite the dust.

Cale always brings the best out of Khenyeza and was the provider of the three goals scored by the temperamental forward on Wednesday.

Youthful linkman Sameehg Doutie could also trouble Arrows, who will rely on Papi Zothwane and his brother Ntlantla in the midfield.

The win will be crucial for Craig Rosslee's side who are hoping to narrow the gap between them and leaders SuperSport United.
