Freddy Nyathela, the outspoken arts activist and president of the SA Roadies Association, is finally taking his complaint against MEC for arts and culture Barbara Creecy to the Gauteng legislature.

He has been invited to make his presentation regarding his row with Creecy to the legislature this afternoon.

Nyathela last year complained that he was prevented from asking a question by Jerry Mabuza, who was MC at a public meeting addressed by Creecy and Arts and Culture Minister Pallo Jordan at the Bassline in Newtown.

Nyathela is chairperson of the provincial arts and culture council.

He says his beef with Creecy is that she did not intervene to allow him to ask the question as it was his constitutional right to do.

Creecy has denied that Nyathela was not allowed to ask questions.

Nyathela has since laid a complaint against Greecy with the Human Rights Commission, the public protector and the legislature.

The legislature has now invited him to make a presentation today to members of its arts and culture portfolio committee.

"This means there is no way we can allow individuals, no matter how powerful or influential they are, to undermine others," Nyathela said.

"I did not expect the kind of treatment I got from the imbizo, especially because I had been invited by the department of arts, culture, sport."
