The parents of a four-month-old baby girl who was discharged but died hours after receiving a "clean bill of health" from Dundee Provincial Hospital have called on health authorities to investigate the conduct of the doctor involved. The identity of the doctor is known to Sowetan.
Baby Zama Goza Manyarela of Dundee died last Thursday. Her parents says that this was shortly after she was discharged from the hospital. Her mother Mamodupi Manyarela said she took her baby to a private doctor on Tuesday after she became ill.
"The doctor advised me to take her to hospital, " she said.
Manyarela said when they arrived at the hospital, the baby was put on a drip.
She also claimed that the nurses at the hospital "ill-treated" her and her baby.
Health department liaison officer Sibonelo Msomi promised to investigate the allegations.
