The Gauteng provincial government has won the rights to host the Soccerex forum, which attracts the movers and shakers of business and sport.
In terms of the contract, the Soccerex forum from 2010 to 2013 will take place in the "Province of Champions".
Gauteng was once again represented by MEC Barbara Creecy's department of sports, arts, recreation and culture.
Other places that were also bidding to host the forum were Manchester (England) and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
For Gauteng, hosting this yearly money-spinning forum is part of their preparations for life after the 2010 World Cup.
"It is important for sustainability because our contract for the Soccerex end this year," said Creecy.
"Hosting the forum from is also important from the side of government because it will also lead to investment relations.
"The Gauteng Economic Development Agency and Gauteng Tourism Authority are heavily involved in the project."
As part of the preparations, the Gauteng government is taking 25 entrepreneurs to Brazil next month for the 2009 Soccerex forum in Brasilia.
Speakers will include former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira and French national team technical director Gerard Houllier.
"This will give the provincial government a more significant opportunity to market the province as a 2010 destination and follow up some of the relationships we established last year," said Creecy.
"The idea is to start formalising relationship between South Africa and Brazil because the World Cup is coming here in 2010 and Brazil will host the event in 2014.
"It is logical that our proactive approach to business development and 2010 marketing and promotion specifically targets Brazil."
