'PREMIER NOT FIRED'

The ANC in Limpopo yesterday dismissed as "untrue" reports that it had dismissed Premier Sello Moloto from the party.

This follows reports that the provincial leadership of the party had taken a resolution to fire Moloto, pictured, from the ANC after fears that he was planning to join the Congress of the People.

Moloto was accused of, among other things, failing to sign a nomination form to confirm his candidacy for both the national and provincial legislatures.

He also allegedly failed to highlight the party's achievements in government since the party took over in 1994 in his state of the province address two weeks ago.

Surprisingly, Moloto accepted his alleged dismissal even before it was formally communicated to him.

ANC provincial secretary Joe Maswanganyi said yesterday he was not sure where Moloto had got the information that he had been fired.

"I do not know where Moloto got it that he was fired from the ANC. It is not true and the ANC sees Moloto as its member," Maswanganyi said yesterday.
